As a full-line distributor, we are able to offer our customers not only an extensive inventory of food products but also janitorial/cleaning supplies, large equipment, small wares and even medical supplies. We are a customer-centric, employee-owned company that has been built on the foundation of strong family values. Family-Owned and Operated
In 1940, Roy and Glen Martin founded Martin Bros. Distributing Co., Inc. with great determination and a handful of cash. Their foundation was strong family values and an emphasis on customer relationships defined by “Legendary Customer Service”.
Over time, the company grew into an independent, full-line distributor offering customers everything they needed for their foodservice operation. Leadership passed to John Martin, who focused on bringing “Foodservice With A Difference” to our customers through inspirational and innovative solutions.
Martin Bros. is now a regional distributor serving Iowa and seven surrounding states, made up of over 600 experienced, knowledgeable employees. President and Chief Operating Officer Brooks Martin and Chief Financial Officer Jeff Martin now lead our continued growth as the third generation of Martins to run the company.

At Martin Bros., we make our decisions locally and focus on our commitment to purchasing the highest-quality products. This commitment is strengthened with our emphasis on distributing nationally-branded products that operators know and trust. Our dedication to customer service is strengthened by our position as a UniPro member. UniPro’s purchasing volume exceeds $66 billion. As a UniPro member, we have the purchasing power of the national corporate foodservice companies but retain the autonomy and flexibility of an independent distributor. We utilize the DOT Virtual Warehouse, which allows us to secure over 8,000 additional products in a quick and efficient manner. This warehouse allows us to get the products customers need and deliver them on the next normal delivery day.
Large Equipment and Small Wares
Whether our customers are opening a new facility or redesigning an existing one, we have a Design & Consulting Team to help them get through the process. Not only can we help with product solutions, we specialize in consulting on new construction layout and design, mechanical drawing/blue print and delivery and installation services.
We also have small wares specialists to help our customers with all of their ambiance-enhancing front-of-the-house needs. From plates, glasses and flatware to buffet service and menu holders, they have the experience to help find the right products and solutions.
A Janitorial Leader
Our trained specialists are dedicated to offering a wide selection of state-of-the-art products, equipment, planning services, leasing options, customized programs and services to fit our customers’ needs. We are the only foodservice distributor in the country with a full-line janitorial sales division, and we service what we sell. At Martin Bros., customers order what they need, when they need it, from one distributor. With no minimum orders or freight costs, this adds up to savings for operators.
Technology-Driven Warehousing & Distribution
The Martin Bros. distribution facility is a 285,000 square foot warehouse stocked with over 11,000 products subdivided into dry, refrigerated and freezer categories. Our center utilizes some of the top technologies available in the industry to maximize efficiency and maintain the highest operational standards. Martin Bros. supports a fill rate of 99.3% before substitutions.
In addition, we are held to the highest of food safety standards. We have scored a Very Good or Excellent rating for eleven consecutive years from ASI, an independent food safety auditing firm, placing our food safety program among the top 1% in the nation.
We know that having the best drivers in the business is what sets distributors apart. Martin Bros. drivers not only deliver the product, they also put the product precisely where customers need it, eliminating unnecessary handling by staff.
At Martin Bros., we use Summary Systems to give our drivers the tools they need to make deliveries easy and efficient. Summary Systems allows our drivers to provide Legendary Customer Service by scanning products on and off of the truck for accuracy, capturing signatures and printing delivery receipts, invoices and credits. This technology also interfaces with UPS Logistics Technologies’ Roadnet®, an industry-leading transportation management solution that helps us work more efficiently and create savings for our customers.
Making a Difference for the Environment
Martin Bros. believes that environmental awareness and conservation are important principles in business practice. With this in mind, we are frequently looking at ways we can be a more environmentally-friendly organization.
We are constantly reviewing and implementing recycling options and ways to reduce the dependency on paper by changing our processes. Our invoices are now electronic and all printed publications are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
We are also continually working to reduce energy consumption. To help us do this, we have installed digital temperature and automatic lighting controls, peak usage monitoring and skylights to utilize light in our distribution areas.
