Martin Bros. Named Employer of Choice

On Sunday, September 6, The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier announced that Martin Bros. was a recipient of their annual Employer of Choice award.

The distinction was awarded to Martin Bros. on the basis of nominations made by employees.

“Martin Bros. is family-owned, and they believe in family first,” Gina Mether noted in her submission. “They are always understanding. They are very good with recognizing employees for a job well done. This is an absolute wonderful company to work for.” Mether wasn’t the only employee who touted the way Martin Bros. recognizes employees.

“Brooks and Jeff Martin personally come to meetings and thank employees and customers for making our company so successful. I am truly thankful to have the opportunity to work here,” said John Mapes.

“We are very happy to be selected as a preferred employer by the people who make it happen every day,” said Brooks Martin, President, Chief Operating Officer and grandson of Roy Martin, who founded the company with his brother, Glen, in 1940 as Martin Bros. Paper Co. in his parents’ garage in Cedar Falls.

Today, Brooks Martin and his brother, Chief Financial Officer Jeff Martin, run the company the same way their grandfather did.

“As a company, we have adopted this golden rule: Treat people how you want to be treated,” Brooks said.
