Deb Elings, Martin Bros. RN, WCC, Earns Teepa Snow Dementia Training Certification

The United States is facing unprecedented growth in the number of people living with dementia. According to the Dementia Action Alliance, there are currently approximately 6.8 million Americans – one in eight individuals age 65 and older – living with dementia.

As a distributor who works closely with senior living facilities, Martin Bros. Distributing Co., Inc. is working to help educate caregivers about dementia.

As part of this initiative, Martin Bros. Medical Supplies Specialist Deb Elings, RN, WCC, has earned PAC Approved Certification™ for Positive Approach™ to Care dementia training from nationally-renowned specialist Teepa Snow.

“The thing that makes this certification really great is that the teaching is hands-on,” said Erika Kramer, Martin Bros. Senior Living Engagement Advisor. “Senior living community staff members get up and practice how they’ll be able to go back to their facilities immediately and affect their residents’ lives for the better.”

It’s not about lecturing. It’s about learning and then acting situations out. It really sticks with you.”
