DT’s Pub & Pizza, a Martin Bros. Customer, Named a General Mills Neighborhood to Nation™ Recipe Contest Winner

Zach Wulfekuhle, manager and cook at DT’s Pub in Fayette, Iowa, is a North Central Region Winner in the 2019 Neighborhood to Nation™ Recipe Contest from General Mills Foodservice. The 5th annual contest called on independent family or “neighborhood” restaurants to submit an original recipe to put their local dishes and local “flavor” in the national spotlight!

As a Regional Winner in the Neighborhood to Nation Recipe Contest, Wulfekuhle wins $5,000 as well as $1,000 to share with a local charity. He has chosen the Fayette Heritage Fund, which puts on the annual town celebration, including a parade, fireworks, softball and volleyball tournaments and more.

Representatives from General Mills will visit the restaurant on Aug. 22 to showcase DT’s Pub and celebrate Wulfekuhle’s award-winning recipe with a special check presentation and celebratory event that the community is invited to attend.

Wulfekuhle’s Bourbon and Chicken Waffle Slider recipe is one of two North Central Region Winners in the Neighborhood to Nation Recipe Contest. Made with Gold Medal™ Complete Waffle Mix, the sweet-and-savory fried chicken slider with a fried egg tucked inside is topped with maple bacon bourbon sauce and placed in a just-baked waffle.

Wulfekuhle is also in the running for the Grand Prize (to be announced in late August). One of ten regional winners will be named the Grand Prize Recipe winner and receive a total of $10,000 in cash and $2,000 for charity as well as a three-day trip for two to the Food Network & Cooking Channel New York City Wine & Food Festival this October, the premier food and wine event celebrating America’s favorite foods. He can also win an additional $1,000 for his charity when the contest opens up a social voting element on Facebook August 12 -16.

In the meantime, the local community is invited to visit DT’s Pub to celebrate the award. Guests will be treated to samples of his award-winning recipe, he will be presented with an oversized check and he will also present a check to the Fayette Heritage Fund.
