Julie Halfpop, RDN, LD, Named 2021 IRA Woman to Watch in the Hospitality Industry

Julie Halfpop, RDN, LD, Director of Nutrition Services at Martin Bros. Distributing Co., Inc., was named one of the 2021 Women to Watch in the Hospitality Industry by the Iowa Restaurant Association (IRA).

The 40 Women to Watch in the Hospitality Industry list recognizes the creativity, leadership and contributions of women across all hospitality industry sectors. From purveyors and entrepreneurs to chefs and business development professionals, these women are blazing new trails, leading by example, and impressing their peers, customers and managers daily. Halfpop does all of these things.

When she completed her degree in Food & Nutrition/Dietetics at Iowa State, Halfpop assumed she would find a career in a health clinic. But when she landed a position in foodservice operations and dining programs, she never looked back. She oversaw a hospital’s foodservice program for more than a decade and then worked as a corporate dietitian before joining foodservice distributor Martin Bros.

Today, she leads a team of seven dietitians. She is a sought-after expert speaker and lecturer on long term care menus, developing marketable dining experiences, controlling costs and training staff.
